Welcome to You Can Just Do Things Week: We Must Ship

Starting something has never been easier.

However, finishing something and shipping it is a different story. I stopped counting all the ideas, projects, experiments, and writings that I started but never finished. Sometimes, the only thing missing was clicking on the "Publish" button. Other times, a new idea popped into my head, shifted my focus completely, or I never found the energy for the last 20% of the work.

You Can Just Do Things Week

From 24 to 28 August, every day, I've decided to ship something. Expect Nuxt modules, Vite plugins, AI Search integrations, something built with Flue, a learning series, agent skills, and more that I've been working on over the last few months.

I've recently given a talk about agency, the idea that you don't need permissions to do something, to create, and to take control of your life. Last year, I also wrote about it in and, since then, I try to put it into practice every single day. With this week, it's like a consecration of that mindset.

You can just do things is at the heart of agency. It is now something etched in my mind. Honestly, it's like a lifestyle.

I have a north star that helps me choose what to work on, but I am also attracted by opportunities. Some ideas are meaningful only during a specific period, and if I don't take advantage of them, I might miss the opportunity. The balance is hard to find: staying in motion should not mean leaving every project behind but our time is limited. This public commitment helps me stay focused, organized, and disciplined while there are projects that I just want to do for fun.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to gatekeep everything I build until I have enough content to make a full release week. I ship everything I can, when I find time, and when I feel it's worth it. This time, it's different: I've started too many things that I need to finish.

I'm so excited about this week. I have so many things I want to share with you!

Follow along here from 24 to 28 August. I'll ship something every day, and I hope you'll be there!

Those Who Inspire Me

That idea of an innovation week isn't from me. I happily borrowed it from Cloudflare.

Every year, and multiple times a year, Cloudflare organizes weeks to ship. In early August, they organized an Agents Week, and they really shipped. They also have a birthday week that I've carefully followed every year for the past couple of years, even if sometimes, it's hard to follow. I love the idea of dedicating a week to ship because it forces to clearly communicate what is being shipped, to write about it.

"We must ship" is the mantra of Taylor Otwell, the creator of Laravel. He said it during his 2025 Laracon EU keynote with the idea that done is better than perfect. It resonates with me a lot and I'm trying to apply it in my daily life, similar to the agency mindset.

Finally, "You can just do things" is a motto that Aaron Francis promotes a lot on Twitter and that he talked about during the Laracon US 2025 introduction keynote, or even during Epic Web in a talk named Epic Bets: Practical Tips For Betting on Yourself. I just love that mindset and the way it encourages people to just do things.

I'm alone at the helm of my ship, so this week will be smaller than Cloudflare's, but no less personal. I'm proud of what I've built so far, and I hope you'll enjoy it.

That could be a one-off event.

Or maybe I'll revive it in 16 months.
