The End of My Studies And The Beginning of a New Chapter

Important

I'm open to new opportunities, near Paris or remote! If you think I can contribute to your company or your project, feel free to contact me on X (Twitter), LinkedIn or Email.

Six years ago, I embarked on my studies at INSA Centre Val de Loire to specialize in cybersecurity. When I selected this school on the Parcoursup platform, I was uncertain. At that time, my sole aspiration was to work in IT. Yes, even the web had not crossed my mind.

I discovered my passion for web development during a contest called Nuit de l'info in early December 2018. The freedom and creativity that web development offers were a revelation for me. I learned a lot, and one of my teammates added 3D objects to our project. It was amazing!

After this incredible experience that profoundly transformed my future, I've participated annually ever since. In my leisure time, I continued to educate myself, from HTML to JavaScript to TypeScript. Every moment spent on the web was a delight. I was enthusiastic to acquire more and more knowledge.

I met many brilliant individuals at school. We could rely on each other during the two years of preparatory classes. Together, we grew and learned a lot. I'm grateful for that and happy to have met them.

With these friends, we created numerous projects ranging from IoT to a tutoring platform and the school campus website. We gained invaluable knowledge and had a lot of fun. Some of these projects were successful, while others were not. But in the end, we gained experience.

I invested a significant amount of time in the school's associations from day one. I initiated an association for sustainable development and served as the vice-president of the national engineering student association in France. I learned extensively about management, communication, and teamwork. These experiences have left a lasting impact on me and have truly transformed me for the better.

After this intense beginning, I did a 4-month internship at a consulting company in Paris. I studied Angular. Within the same company, and to solidify my interest in web development and better understand myself, I took a gap year. I continued to work at this company as well as volunteering for a project called Le Classement des Associations. Project management, social media management, event organization, and contacting associations, companies, and schools were part of my daily tasks. We privatized the Opera Bastille for a day! What a day!

This gap year gave me a lot of time to do open-source and contribute to projects like Nuxt and UnJS. I participated in many meetups and gave my first talk at Devoxx France. Incredible experience!

2023 was an intense year with a turning point in my web development comprehension.

I returned to school to finish my studies and did a 6-month internship at Infomaniak. I applied, without much hope, but I was accepted. My mission was to create components for the design system using Angular. I wrote numerous tests, both unit and end-to-end, and documentation. I love when things are clear and well-documented! I also set up an internal ecosystem CI to test projects against each merge request. I met a lot of incredible people in a company that respects its values. I'm grateful for this experience.

I took some time to walk in Switzerland, build this new blog, do live coding, write articles, learn PHP and Laravel, code, start a SaaS, contribute to open-source, give two talks, and do sports.

Now we're here, and I'm writing these lines before my last day at Infomaniak.

A New Chapter

My studies are over. I'm closing a significant chapter of my life. But this also signifies the beginning of a new one.

I've defined some objectives for the coming months and the next year to guide myself on a new journey. I made this mistake in the past and I've spread myself thinly over too many projects and activities. I want to focus on a few things and do them well. Don't ask me my objectives.

To start this new chapter, I'm looking for a job in Paris or remote. I'm open to new opportunities, from backend to frontend. I adapt quickly, am eager to learn new things, and love meeting new people through conferences and meetups. I don't want to sit behind a desk all the time. If you think I can contribute to your company or your project, feel free to contact me on X, LinkedIn or Email.

Hope the next 6 years are as rich as the last ones.

Thanks for reading! My name is Estéban, and I love to write about web development.

I've been coding for several years now, and I'm still learning new things every day. I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others, as I would have appreciated having access to such clear and complete resources when I first started learning programming.
